Do you not understand that holding on to worldly things makes no more sense than a farmer falling in love and collecting ears of corn. He could save the large ones, the black ones, the longest or the shortest. He could save the big kernels of the small ones or anything else that he would decide was important in his collection of corn. He could become so obsessed in them that he would loose all initiative in planting them.
However, if he never planted them. Gave them back to the ground from which they came he has only fed his personal greed and selfishness. When he finally finds that giving releases the power of God and his obedience to him is rewarded when he plants, waters and cares for the corn will it grow. Then he finds abundance, satisfaction and true joy, His family, friends and neighbors grow and thrive on his Generosity.
There is nothing different from any of us with the understanding of why God told us we must share. Only by sharing can one achieve true happiness. If you grow inside only is the same as the farmer hanging on to the ears of corn. In order to have a large crop one must be willing to share and support the fruit of that labor. God has promised that if we give he will return that blessing many times over.
We know that being down here in South America in a crime area with drugs and many things that drive hunger into the people are part of this area. But know this that with our small voice added with a few more small voices and Gods help we will bring jobs, food, shelters and friendship to a few and that will start the fire until we have created a hunger filled love and prosperity to nation after nation. Can you imagine an airline that every time an airplane took off a child would receive an education a village would receive food, doctors care and support for those with no help.
We can teach you to give just as easy as we can teach you to plant corn. Once understood that what we give we are giving to our own good. Please help me plant the idea that by sharing we grow. Colombia was not known for its sharing but it is recognized for its love of God and that love will develop into the growth necessary to build the wealth that will unite the countries.
