What If?

Posted on April 24, 2026April 24, 2026 by Verl

Back when I was in grade school we use to play a game together, called, β€œWhat If”.Β As I look back today and reminiscing of that game it shows where today misses much of the games and times spent together. Not on a talk channel, not watching television together but actually spending time with one another.

What if I would bring to light that which is lost today to what could be tomorrow.

What if Β we taught our students to learn from our parents some basic thinking like they had years ago.

What if we could teach ourΒ  children that our parents knew something we don’t and be willing to learn from them.

My father only went to the 9th grade. Now he was born in 1901. So, we are talking about before 1920. One day while studying and doing homework in calculus mathematics while waiting for me to finish so we could leave while I worked at my homework assignment he ask what is the problem? I told him and he answered the question. I went to the back where the answers were, but part of the assignment was showing how you got to the answer. But the point here is that with an eighth-grade education he figured it in two seconds in his head. One of the complaints he had against higher education is they let students graduate from college who cannot balance a check book. Here is a man who went on to become a superintendent when they built the Hover Dam which has been renamed Boulder Dam. While superintendent he built the largest race tracks in Los Angles. One story he told was while building one of those race tracks a farmer in bib overhauls stopped him on the job and said, β€œ you guysΒ  are building this in a natural water way and not providing for it.”

Dad passed the word on to others and their comments were, β€œwhat does a farmer know we have great engineers designing this just do your work and quit listening to a farmer.” They never got the equipment off the job before a flash flood wiped the complete race track down the river. Do I make my point?

What if we could get our children to find those before us were not stupid and history can teach for a reason.

What if we could teach others that it is OK to dream and fallow our hearts.

What if we could teach that there is a God and what is taught in the bible is history and accept it.

What if I could inspire others to love and not hate?

What if my words could be installed into the mind of another?

What if I could find a way to learn and understand why I write these things.

What if others were to believe in God and know we have a destiny and a future in history and trusting in something we do not understand but just let it him guide and not worry why?

Perhaps I am seeing a crack in the future and with just a little faith write and not worry what others think and just go with the heart. The point? What if?
